There’s an impressive class of NBA rookies who have begun their careers on great notes this season. Often times, a rookie enters the league and takes several seasons before he acclimates, looking rather shaky at first before adjusting to the ways of the league.
However, some pretty spectacular rookies are playing this season and they have already proved that they possess the qualities that veteran players have. That will go a long way in guaranteeing that they will have a super long basketball career.
So let’s review some of them who are at the top of the list for the NBA rookie of the year right now. Here are the ones who have the best chance.
Brandon Jennings just may have been the #1 choice one or two months ago. The game that took place in November where he scored 55 points was the highlight of quite an awesome beginning for him this season.
Unfortunately, Jennings has shot around the 30% mark during the course of the last month so he’s fallen out of contention for the moment.
The new favorite at this point is Tyreke Evans, the Sacramento Kings guard being credited for turning around last year’s worst NBA team. He is a star in the making, and his averages of over 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists are just phenomenal.
And a teammate of his, Omri Casspi, who comes out of Israel, also has a good chance. He has played really great at defense, made lots of three pointers and shoots almost 50% field shots.
One player who is doing good right now is Golden State’s point guard, Stephen Curry, who has been doing consistently well at that position. This is a good thing for this franchise’s future, but if he doesn’t do better during the second half of the games, then he most likely will not be considered.
The final possibility is also a point guard named Johnny Flynn and he plays for Minnesota. He is from Syracuse and judging from the way he has been playing, you would not think he was a rookie. It looks as if he will definitely be having a nice long NBA career.
